The Characters Of "The Journey" : Morrigann

Hello, I'm Dave and today I'm going to give you some explanations about Morrigann, and the sources from your Universe.

She is a goddess of war and slaughter, of Celtic origin and affiliated with the Gallic mother goddess Matrona, as well as the Water element. She seems to have been considered a goddess, although she is not explicitly mentioned as such in ancient texts. In some medieval tales, Morrigan is part of the group of the three goddesses of war, alongside the goddesses Badb and Macha, or sometimes Nemain.

Its name probably comes from the etymology "Muir" which refers to water, as well as its name which means: Great Queen or sometimes "Queen of the seas" (from water) ... it is this etymology that makes it linked to the "fairy Morgana" (Morgane le fey) of the Arthurian cycle, which also comes from the element water.

The fairy Morgan is a character in the Arthurian cycle, in which she is the magician half-sister of King Arthur. Originally a positive character, she was later presented as an opponent of the king, his wife Guinevere and the Knights of the Round Table.

When she appears in the Monmouth novel, Morgana lives on the Isle of Avalon with her eight sisters. With charms, she heals King Arthur wounded at the Battle of Camlann. She appears in the novels of Chrétien de Troyes as Arthur's sister.

Sent to a convent when Uther Pendragon kills her father and marries her mother, she receives a full education and is accepted by Merlin (Myrddhin) as a student in the magical arts. Uther makes her marry Urien whom she does not love. Luxurious woman6, she falls in love, in Camelot, with a knight, Guiomart, cousin of Queen Guinevere. The latter breaks off their relationship and, from then on, Morgane hates her brother and Guinevere. This hatred intensifies after Lancelot rejects his advances8.

The character of Morgane is characterized by its complexity. According to the authors, she is a fairy or a human, beneficial or evil; sister, half-sister or no relation to Arthur. Therefore, the meanings that can be seen there are multiple, they sometimes oppose or complement each other.

She is able to heal, or kill. Versatile goddess, her different aspects have enriched our Morrigann by entangling her different origins.

I hope this will enlighten you on this character as he appears in our Rock Space Opera, and will be developed in the short story that will be released next year.

Enjoy reading and see you soon.
